The challenge
The overall shape of the plastic part, the position and size of its front and rear notches and the grille area had to be checked on every part, and a faulty part had to be separated before reaching the next stage.
Our solution
The cameras at the station see the same part from different angles and run three separate checks: the shape of the part, the position and size of the front and rear notches, and the condition of the grille area. Our own software combines these results into an OK/NOK decision for every part and sends it to the PLC.
The operator selects the product being run on the screen; images of good and faulty parts are saved, and production, OK and NOK counters are shown on screen.
In the first screen below, a part whose shape and notches are correct but whose grille area is faulty is rejected as NOK; in the second, a part whose notches could not be found.
